Meet Jesus

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

About 600 years before the birth of Christ, Isaiah got a prophecy about the promised son of God. Throughout Jesus's life, He fulfilled about more than 300 prophecies, spoken through different prophets.

John 17:1-5

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

In John 17 we read Jesus prayer for and about us. we read about His mission on earth, Yes, Jesus came to die for us, but why? It was to give us eternal life, so that we may KNOW God.

Know here means: To be involved in an intimate, growing relationship.

Jesus was the answer to the fall what happened when Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden fruit. The moment they ate from the fruit, the authority that God gave to humankind was being transferred to satan. Sin entered the world, and the relationship between God and humankind was broken. there were only a few people who were able to take hold of Gods heart. God wanted the relationship to be restored, Jesus volunteered to come to earth, and restore that which was broken. Jesus being without sin died in our place, went to hell to bring back the keys. After 3 days He rose from the grave, and right now He is sitting at the right hand of the Father. Jesus gave us back the authority.

It is our responsibility to walk in it.

John 1:1-5,9-12

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

From these verses we can make up two things:

  1. Jesus is the Word of God, to get to know Jesus, means reading God's word the Bible
  2. You are not automatically a child of God, you can only become a child of God by believing in Jesus Christ.
